Arms day shoot

Short #4 for @46andcounting · opens on the light first set · post same evening

Camera: vertical · 4K · tripod locked · side light · hip height for wides, floor level for shot 2.
DJI mics: TX1 on you under the collar, windscreen on, 32-bit float recording ON, receiver into the ZR. TX2 on the dumbbell rack facing the weights, left running all session. Before set one: record a 10 s test clip with the receiver on and PLAY IT BACK on the camera (meters moving is not proof; two shoots recorded silence). WB on a preset, not auto. Silent face in every shot where your face shows.
Never in frame: vials, labels, syringes, anything BIOELEVATE.

Cause found: the ZR's LTC signal input was ON, which turns the mic jack into a timecode input and records no audio. Full wedding timecode procedure: timecode.html

ZR + DJI audio check (do at home, 5 min)

1. Timecode > LTC signal input = OFF whenever the receiver is plugged in as a microphone. That was the cause of the silent clips.

2. Menu (hold the A button > Video recording menu):
Audio input sensitivity = manual 10–12 (never 0; AUTO is not allowed when 32-bit float is on)
Audio input selection = External mic (not Line)
Mic jack plug-in power = OFF (the DJI receiver powers itself)
32-bit float audio recording = ON (optional, H.265 10-bit is fine)

3. Cable: receiver 3.5 mm OUT → the ZR MIC jack (not the headphone jack). Receiver output = camera/mic level, gain 0, transmitter not muted.

4. Record 10 s talking, play it back with headphones. Meters moving is not proof; playback is. Then hand me the card and I confirm the numbers.

During the session

0aLight set, TIGHT: the cable stack with the pin in a low plate, then your hands on the bar 60pFrame 1 of the reel
0bLight set, WIDE 3/4: easy pushdowns, full body, relaxed silent face 60p20 s
1Pushdowns, working set, 3/4 front, lockout visible 60pFull set
2Hero: pushdown lockout or strict-curl peak, low angle, camera ONE STEP FURTHER BACK than feels right 120pGet it twice
3Curls (EZ-bar or dumbbell), pure side, one strict set, bar path visible 60p
4Overhead rope extension, 3/4, the stretch at the bottom visible 60pThe "everybody skips" clip

6Dumbbells set down, shake out, chalk 60p5 s each, the clunk matters
7Face between sets, breathing, silent 60p10 s

After the session (10 min)

8On a bench, side-lit. About 60 s per lift: "Why I keep pushdowns at 46," then the other three (spoken on camera, long-form only)
9Read the nine voiceover lines below on TX1, one record press per line, two takes each, quiet corner, 30 cm from your mouth
1015 s wide of the empty dumbbell rack

Voiceover lines (say the movement names exactly)

1. I'm 46. The first set is always light.

2. Then arm day looks like this.

3. Pushdowns. Full lockout, every rep.

4. Curls. Strict. The bar does not move me.

5. Overhead extensions. The one everybody skips.

6. Hammers, slow, to finish.

7. That's arm day at 46.

8. Light first. Send this to a guy who loads the bar before he's warm.

9. New one every week. Forty-six and counting.
